I have worked alongside Mr Bagga for many years and having left Sheffield now, I still rely on him for advice on complex and difficult cases. He is an outstanding doctor and surgeon. He cares deeply for his patients and will give 110% effort to ensure anybody under his care not only receives the best surgical and medical input, but that the patient and their family feel listened to and cared for. He is humble, polite and understated, a real role model for future surgeons.

Mr Bagga is a caring and very competent surgeon. Both he and his registrar rang my partner immediately after the surgery to explain how the operation had progressed and what the prognosis was. Despite the serious nature of the operation, the fact that I have had no complications and the large scar is hardly noticeable is testament to his skills as a surgeon. Mr Bagga rang again a week later to check on progress and wrote a detailed letter to my doctor outlining next steps. I am most impressed with Mr Bagga’s patient manner and the fact that he finds time to inform and follow up on progress given how busy he must be . The after care by the nurses in the high dependency unit was outstanding too. The general ward, however, was short of staff and the care wasn’t quite as good because of the lack of a dedicated nurse. Like the previous reviewer, I had to wait 6 hours for my prescription after being informed I was discharged. This meant that my bed wasn’t free for most of the day which will have added to waiting times for someone, But this is not the fault of the doctors or nurses but symptomatic of a either shortages of pharmacists or poor drug dispensing processes. Please pass on my thanks and appreciation to all Mr Bagga’s team

Mr Veejay Bagga saved my young 12 year old son’s life, he was initially instrumental in the diagnosis of a Large spinal tumour in the C1-4 region of my sons neck. Mr Bagga was also a key part of the team who operated on my son over ten and a half hours, Removing the tumour through extremely difficult and high risk surgery during which my son could have suffered paralysis from the neck down, or even death due to the spinal chord being severely compressed by the large tumour which was also wrapped around the main arterial feed to the brain and had spread into the right side of his neck. Without the surgery my son would have been confined to life in a wheelchair with total paralysis from the neck down, surviving only through the use of a ventilator. My son has been given his life back thanks to the skill, talent and dedication of Mr Bagga, not only during surgery but also during his aftercare he was extremely kind, considerate and approachable taking the time to answer and explain any questions we asked no matter what hour of the day. My son is an Arsenal supporter and Mr Bagga snook into his room one night to sabotage his Arsenal teddy bear by putting a Liverpool kit on it to surprise him when he woke, a beautifully human and humorous touch during a very difficult time for us all ( my son still has it to this day and will never change it), again something I will never forget. My son has recovered all movement and leads a normal, happy and healthy life thanks to Mr Bagga and the team at Alder Hey, we will never be able to repay him but I am humbled at his knowledge, professionalism and skill on a daily basis every time I see my son as a happy healthy young man. My son has a beautifully neat scar to the back of his neck which is simply a symbol of life itself and reminds me of the skill of this incredible surgeon.
